The best methods of sanitizing your hands when you are out of soap

We’ve all been there. You’re in the food court at the mall, maybe in eight grade, maybe yesterday, and you’re about to bite into tangy udon noodles. Say ‘“ahhh” says your inner conscious, you have been waiting for this moment your entire life. You were born for this! And then you stop dead in your tracks – you realize you haven’t washed your hands. And you are too hungry to run the 0.2 miles to the modern bathroom, yet you run a quick mental tally of all the railings and display red high heels you have touched. Must wash hands your inner conscious visits once again. And that is when you whip out your pocket size hand sanitizer – and bear with us here, your hand sanitizer is tied down to your purse strap! Has there ever been a time more urgent than the mid-pandemic to whip out unique and powerful fem tactics? I thought you might say that. In our creative book, there are limitless ideas when it comes to sanitizing  your hands when you are out of soap.

Yes, you heard us right. Attach that puppy onto your purse strap. During a time in the world where hand sanitizer is as much of a sacred keeper as Gold was during the late 19th century, our conscience reminds us, we must keep our sanitizer close. So how do we go about doing just that? I will answer that question with a question. What is one thing we have more of right now than we have ever had before? Time inside.

With that said, make your own soap! C’mon’, nowadays we all know one friend or if you come from a “well to do” family, two family members that have taken up the homemade soap business. It mustn’t be that hard to learn, your consciousness has become quite the chatterbox in the midst of all the brainstorming.

Or third, also probably another good ol’ nineteenth century trick, lather your hands with vinegar and rinse. There it is again. Motivate! Motivate! Let’s get some exercise my friends. Postpone the insta-cart date you had and get those legs moving, girly! Perhaps, this is the most practical method, you could even skip or take a little jaunt (don’t forget your beloved mask) to your local market and grin (though, no one will see) while you purchase your vinegar. Either white or apple cider vinegar will work just fine. Just remember to rinse afterwards, or else you will be staunchly reminded, all day, about your lack of soap.

If none of these options strike your fancy, consider wearing your favorite gardening gloves! You know you look cute in them. Girl, you know.  No, but for real, pick up some surgical gloves. It may not be the most preferred method, especially when you are trying to swipe your Metrocard, but at least it is one of the most preventative ways to keep your hands sanitized and sparkly.

Last but not least, it is important to note that during these tough times, remember the strongest tool we have to stay healthy (theoretically speaking) is our use of positivity. Okay, okay last conscious reference, promise. Research shows that positive thinking can result in an 11–15% longer lifespan. Those are pretty favourable numbers, my friends. So bid adieu to germs and say hello to sanitization!
